I think that the most important thing about the art of graphic novels, is the environment and the things in the environment that could suggest something. But its not just the fact they are in the frame, its how they are portrayed within the frame. I have used three of the same primary images, and i will be explaining why the effects of each image makes a big impact, and how it can create a mood. As we can see in image one that there is color, this makes everything seem normal, and generates somewhat a happy mood, just like a friendly neighborhood, however most graphic novels aren't really about happiness, hence the name ' graphic novels '. In image 2, this is basically the average comic book drawing, all of the strokes are thin, and realistic like a photo. In image 3, the thick jaggard edges of the trees, and the dark shades of grass creates an intense gloomy atmousphere, the dark shades of black and grey make the landscape look baron, and abandoned. Although these images have no characters in them, the author obviously would have had to think about the environment and the surroundings before he places the character somewhere in the frame.
